Suzuki GT750 Indicators
Had a bit of a problem where I had custom fork ears and wanted to the original style 'B' indicators on, the size of the square would have removed too much metal and weakened the fork ears where they are narrower than the standard ones.
Can also use this if you do not have the standard 'B' fork ears, which in good condition are hard to come by, but can use the earlier type with the 10mm hole instead of a square which are seen more frequently.
Click the images below for full sized pictures most are around 1200 x 900
As you can see the fork ears are quite narrow.
These are a pattern set of indicators bought off e-bay for about £20 each, not sure where my originals went.

All the parts need to be removed from the indicator so you are just left with the shell.
The length of thread in the hole needed to be increased bit, 5 - 8 mm should be sufficient.
The Thread is M10 x 1.25mm |
Used an old M10 engine stud to screw in to the indicator stem and that is being gripped in the chuck, the RPM looks faster in the photo than it was, probably about 400 RPM.
|
Machined most of the square location away leaving about 2mm left, measure one side of the rubber grommet and make it 0.3mm smaller, can take the round bit left down to the threads show and the diameter in the photo will fall off and just need light filing.
|
Where the square has been mostly machined away, if you did tap the threads a bit deeper the studding would not have screwed in to the indicator stem far enough, or on these it wouldn't have, and may have come off when machining. The machined end needs to painted to prevent rusting.
|
I have cut the original grommet in half as we only need one side, the square as mentioned is about 0.3mm smaller in length than the thickness of the rubber grommet.
|
Not bad for just under £20 each from ebay.
|
Nice thick stainless washer on the back and either a nyloc nut or normal nut and spring washer.
I also used thread lock for the studding as the studding can come loose and the indicators will rotate then.
